Relish an urban lifestyle tangled in an ever-evolving tapestry of art, culture, and creativity as you settle into the stylish district of Wynwood, also known as Miami's Little San Juan, the revered Art and Soul of the Metro!

Welcome to one of Miami's trendiest, most art-driven communities, Wynwood, an up-and-coming arts and entertainment district between Edgewater to the east, Allapattah to the west (on the other side of the I-95), and the Miami Design District to the north, and a downtown region known as Town Square to its south.

Comprising two sub-districts, the Wynwood Art District in northern Wynwood and the Wynwood Fashion District along West 5th Avenue, making up approximately 1.294 square miles, Wynwood is walkable, upbeat, out-of-the-box, and unparalleled, and it's been creating colorful waves in the hearts of tourists AND locals alike!

Yes, you read it right!

If you think this fun, all-in-one hub is just good for a weekend destination, you have another thing coming!

With its diverse dining scene, recreation, pocket parks, art, culture, entertainment, and big city conveniences, paired with a select collection of apartments and trendy condos, Wynwood offers a rare opportunity to live in one of Miami's most happening mixed-use enclaves — and 9,291 residents have accepted!

So, if you're raring to be part of a dynamic community that celebrates expression in all forms, make that MOVE happen NOW!

A seamless transition will be the LEAST of your worries, as I'm here to guide you throughout your Wynwood relocation, starting with the ULTIMATE essentials!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Wynwood.

(1)

The HEART Of Your Creative Space: Setting Up Your Wynwood Utilities

Just signed the lease or purchase agreement for your Wynwood home?

Then, it's all settled!

It's time to get that creative space ready for occupancy!

To set up your electricity, log into your existing Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website account to request a service transfer to your new address — you'll only need to advise FPL of the date of disconnection (old address), the date of re-connection, and the complete address of your new home.

On the other hand, if you're from a different state or country, place an online application with your Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the complete service address, and the connection date!

A deposit of $25 (minimum) and initial set-up fees may be charged before service connection, whether you're a new or existing FPL customer.

If your building management or HOA allows natural gas service, hook your kitchen up with TECO Peoples Gas and start cooking away!

Upon confirmation, you can submit the necessary IDs and date of connection through your newly created online account, or if you're an existing consumer, advise TECO or FCG of the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and the new address.

Charges may include deposit fees based on your home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill and a connection fee.

Last but not least is checking for water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website!

Once confirmed, create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, or request a service transfer as soon as you settle any outstanding balance on your account.

Reliable Connections, Secured: Creating A Path To The World Wide Web Inside Your Wynwood Home

Do you know how to enhance your new Wynwood lifestyle?

If this isn't your first go at relocating, you already know what I'm talking about!

In today's digital age, high-speed internet and cable TV aren't just optional services but essentials, and if you're not ready to lose your "connections" to the world outside your urban refuge, don't forget to have them all ready before your move!

But, if you're still looking for the best service providers in Wynwood, contact established providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!

Once you've assessed your entertainment needs and household usage, submit a new service request online or in person at the nearest store, and provide your complete address and valid ID, or request a service transfer if you're already a Comcast or AT&T customer after you've settled any remaining balance on your account!

To avoid confusion, please note that there may be upfront charges like deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees.

The ID For EVERYTHING Floridian: Your Florida Driver's License

Congratulations on grabbing that elusive opportunity to live in Wynwood!

The path toward your dream community may have been rocky, but you FINALLY made it!

So, to make EVERYTHING official, don't forget to get a Florida driver's license!

Aside from being a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency, your Florida driver's license allows you to drive across Florida without breaking the law and helps you move forward in your Wynwood relocation!

We all know how important having an ID is in getting everything sorted — utilities, availing services, paperwork, and all that jazz!

To get yours, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

If you have a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction, you may be allowed to skip Drug and Alcohol courses and the Class E Knowledge exams.

However, taking the Vision and Hearing test is still a MUST!

On the contrary, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV to get a new license with your updated address — it's NON-NEGOTIABLE, so don't even think about skipping this part.

Oh, and don't forget to get insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency!

Still an unregistered voter in 2024?

Otherwise, you can't participate in the coming local, state, and national elections, which may pose a problem in the future — yours, your community's, and your country's, too!

So, if you're of legal age and are a United States citizen who meets all the requirements, submit your application and the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

Any current and valid identification with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) will do!
