Seek lifetime refuge in the charming tropical hideaway of the Venetian Islands, a coveted set of residential isles offering an unrivaled island lifestyle flushed with exclusivity, luxury, and world-class amenities!

Gracing the east side of Biscayne Bay with grandeur, elegance, and beauty is the exclusive community of the Venetian Islands, a chain  of  six artificial islands connecting South Beach to mainland Miami in Edgewater via the Venetian Causeway .

Offering a group of neighborhoods    comprising (from west to east)  Biscayne Island, San Marco Island, San Marino Island, Di Lido Island, Rivo Alto Island,   and   Belle Isle,   the former three islands part of Miami, and the other three of Miami Beach, the Venetian Islands boasts a coveted location between Miami Beach and Downtown Miami, embodying the ULTIMATE island lifestyle with just the right touch of secluded living and access to deluxe city amenities — all by the waterfront!

All those strong assets paired with a tightly-knit community?

Safe to say, these islands belong to and are already part of Magic City's preferred waterfront residential enclaves, boasting not only natural beauty, exclusivity, and unparalleled creature comforts but also some of Miami's top-of-the-line luxury residences of  palatial single-family homes, townhouses, apartments,  and luxurious condos, only a short drive to South Beach, Edgewater, or Downtown Miami!

So, if you're drawn to this unique tropical hideaway and want to relish its seamless blend of privacy, luxury, and urban convenience, let this guide help you plan a smooth transition to turn your Venetian Islands relocation into an enjoyable and stress-free adventure!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to  the Venetian Islands.

     (1)

Commencing A Coveted Island Lifestyle: Your Venetian Islands Must-Haves

It's easy to get tasks mixed up, especially since you're moving to an exciting community like the Venetian Islands, so to jog your memory, I'm here to remind you that the first step towards a successful Venetian Islands relocation is getting your new home ready for occupancy!

And if you haven't sorted your utilities (which should ideally be complete before your big move), let me help you get things done — and stat!

To set up your electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the  Florida Power & Light Company (FPL)  website and apply for service at your new address.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

Please note that there may be a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

The next thing you need to do is hook your kitchen up with  TECO Peoples Gas  — that's only IF your HOA or building management allows natural gas service, and if you prefer it!

All you need to do is submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).

Keep in mind that deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

Last on the list is your water and sewer services.

Once you've determined the jurisdiction of your new address (Metro Miami or Miami Beach), you'll need to either check for water and sewer availability on the  Miami-Dade Water & Sewer   website or have it taken care of by the  City of Miami Beach   — to get the process started, consult with your HOA or building management!

     (2)

Existing In The 21st Century: Dressing Your Home With Technology Essentials

Can't afford to spend a day without your beloved internet and favorite TV series?

Set up your internet and cable services before your big Venetian Islands relocation!

Despite its "secluded" location on Biscayne Bay, the Venetian Islands is served by esteemed service providers like  Comcast Xfinity  and  AT&T , so you won't have to worry about NOT getting reliable "connections!"

So, once you've determined your household's usage and entertainment needs, submit your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle the remaining balance on your account!

It's also best to ask your provider about paying deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.

Otherwise, everything will reflect on your first bill.

     (3)

Formally Establishing Your Floridian Identity: A First Step Towards Your Dream Life On The Islands

Moving to the Venetian Islands without a Florida driver's license?

Errr.. that may pose a problem!

You see, the Venetian Islands is an exclusive community with limited access to public transportation (compared to other cities), so to get around, you'll need a car, too!

And if you didn't already know, driving on Florida roads WITHOUT a Florida driver's license is against the law!

Not to mention that it's also A REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency!

So, to secure your FIRST Florida ID, a.k.a., your driver's license, visit the nearest  Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)  or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents to get your hands on one.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

    •  U.S Citizen
    • Immigrant
    • Non-Immigrant
    •  Canadian

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees,  click here.

Usually, those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction don't have to take Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, and the Florida Driving tests, but the Vision and Hearing test is mandatory!

Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license.

You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

     (4)

Luxe Learning In The Venetian Islands: Everything You Need To Know About The Schools Around The Venetian Islands

Can't seem to find a school in the Venetian Islands?

Stop the Google search — since the Venetian Islands is an exclusive and mainly a residential area, there are no schools within its perimeter, so you'll be wasting your time!

But before you start stressing out about where to enroll your child after you've relocated, you'll be happy to know that despite this fact, finding a premium educational institution near your community won't be a feat, thanks to Miami Beach's and Metro Miami's plethora of educational institutions from elementary to senior high!

Public, private, or charter — the type of education you prefer is just minutes away from the Venetian Islands!

Choose from schools like iPrep Academy, Miami Children's Museum Charter School, South Pointe Elementary School, St. Patrick Catholic School, Miami Arts Charter School, Miami Beach Senior High School, and more  — you're not just looking at top Miami schools but the best of the BEST!

So, to know more about schools near the Venetian Islands, check out our blog,  Schools near the Venetian Islands , or visit the  Miami-Dade County Public Schools  website for all the public schools near you!

Also, if you require childcare assistance for your little one, visit  Daycares near the Venetian Islands  for daycares around your new home!

     (5)

Taking A Stand For The Future: Tailoring Your Venetian Islands Living Experience

Are you ready to take a stand for the future of your new community, the Venetian Islands?

If you are, but are moving to the Venetian Islands without voter registration, better get to it!

It'll be impossible for you to join the local, state, and national elections this 2024 without one, which means you're sacrificing your VOICE and the chance to shape the future of the Venetian Islands to your needs!

So, if you're a newly naturalized U.S citizen of legal age (or a local without voter registration) with all the requirements, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the  Florida Department of State  or the  Miami-Dade County Elections Department  online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

Any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) will be accepted, so stop making excuses and start exercising your right to vote ASAP!

For other legal forms of identification and supplementary requirements,  c lick here.

     (6)

Adapting To A Zero-Waste Community: Nurturing An Eco-Friendly Venetian Islands

The Venetian Islands, much like other communities, strongly support Miami's initiatives toward sustainability.

So, to help Magic City's worthy cause, the Venetian Islands implements strict recycling, waste management, and PROPER disposal guidelines, which all of its residents observe, follow, and keep to heart!

And now that you're part of this thriving neighborhood, you're obliged to adhere to your community's established solid waste and recycling schedules, too!

Come to think of it, it will be a small price to pay to help maintain and enhance the Venetian Islands' environmental health and pristine surroundings!

So to keep you informed, here are s olid waste, "bulky" garbage, and recycling schedules below, as advised by the  City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division:

    •  Residential Garbage Collection (twice a week)
    • Free recycling collection (Wednesdays)
    •  "Bulky" trash collection (first weekend of the month or by appointment)

Failure to follow these waste management codes may result in a fine or arrest.

For detailed information about schedules and fees in your zone, visit the   City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division website    ,  the  City of Miami Solid Waste Department , or check with your HOA.
