Commencing A Coveted Island Lifestyle: Your Venetian Islands Must-Haves
It's easy to get tasks mixed up, especially since you're moving to an exciting community like the Venetian Islands, so to jog your memory, I'm here to remind you that the first step towards a successful Venetian Islands relocation is getting your new home ready for occupancy!
And if you haven't sorted your utilities (which should ideally be complete before your big move), let me help you get things done — and stat!
To set up your electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.
New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and complete service address for a service transfer.
Please note that there may be a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.
The next thing you need to do is hook your kitchen up with TECO Peoples Gas — that's only IF your HOA or building management allows natural gas service, and if you prefer it!
All you need to do is submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).
Keep in mind that deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.
Last on the list is your water and sewer services.
Once you've determined the jurisdiction of your new address (Metro Miami or Miami Beach), you'll need to either check for water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website or have it taken care of by the City of Miami Beach — to get the process started, consult with your HOA or building management!

Existing In The 21st Century: Dressing Your Home With Technology Essentials
Can't afford to spend a day without your beloved internet and favorite TV series?
Set up your internet and cable services before your big Venetian Islands relocation!
Despite its "secluded" location on Biscayne Bay, the Venetian Islands is served by esteemed service providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T, so you won't have to worry about NOT getting reliable "connections!"
So, once you've determined your household's usage and entertainment needs, submit your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle the remaining balance on your account!
It's also best to ask your provider about paying deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.
Otherwise, everything will reflect on your first bill.

Formally Establishing Your Floridian Identity: A First Step Towards Your Dream Life On The Islands
Moving to the Venetian Islands without a Florida driver's license?
Errr.. that may pose a problem!
You see, the Venetian Islands is an exclusive community with limited access to public transportation (compared to other cities), so to get around, you'll need a car, too!
And if you didn't already know, driving on Florida roads WITHOUT a Florida driver's license is against the law!
Not to mention that it's also A REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency!
So, to secure your FIRST Florida ID, a.k.a., your driver's license, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents to get your hands on one.
Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:
The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.
For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.
Usually, those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction don't have to take Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, and the Florida Driving tests, but the Vision and Hearing test is mandatory!
Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license.
You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.
