Enhance your suburban lifestyle with historic elegance, cultural heritage, and contemporary amenities as you become ONE with the Upper East Side, an unrivaled residential oasis offering the perfect mix of character and modern convenience!

Open your hearts to the seamless blend of creature convenience and vintage charm that lies within the palatial corridors of the Upper East Side, also known as MiMo or Miami Modern District, a unique suburban refuge just north of Edgewater, east of Little Haiti, and south of Miami Shores, occupying 27 blocks between 50th and 77th Streets on Biscayne Boulevard.

Comprising three quaint but distinct communities, Belle Meade, Bay Point, and Morningside, the Upper East Side celebrates an enticing contrast of old and modern, filling its coveted spaces with art, history, culture, and nature to create an irresistible urban-suburban lifestyle desired by many.

With this, the Upper East Side transcends from a thriving tourist destination where ornate MiMo buildings are brought to life by umbrella-blanketed cafés spilling onto the sidewalks, charming boutiques, consignment stores, and trendy eateries to a choice residential paradise merging creature comforts with tree-lined streets, bay views, and creative energy!

Needless to say, the Upper East Side has reached the ranks of Miami's fastest-growing neighborhoods, offering a plethora of premium real estate and attainable luxury living to boot!

So, if you're yearning for that PERFECT combination of historic charm and modern living, embrace this rare opportunity to be a part of the Upper East Side community!

Before you know it, you'll ease into this unique community with effortless grace just by starting with the ESSENTIALS!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to the Upper East Side.

Essential Comforts In Blissful Suburbia: All You Need To Know About Setting Up Your Upper East Side Utilities

If you're looking to commence a new life in the Upper East Side, it's best to start with the ESSENTIALS.

And by that, I mean your home utilities —your electricity, potable water, and natural gas service!

No sense in living in a "lifeless" house, right?

For your electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

To give you a heads up, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

Meanwhile, if you use natural gas for cooking your meals, get in touch with TECO Peoples Gas.

After confirming availability, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of the new home, and preferred service transfer date (existing customer) — that's all you need to do to get your kitchen working!

For reference, deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

Last on the list is checking for water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website.

Once confirmed, new customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners must also settle any outstanding balance before service transfer.

Harnessing The Power Of Technology: Your Upper East Side Lifestyle Made Easy With Internet And Cable TV

If you've gotten used to having a high-speed internet connection and your favorite TV show in the background, you're probably looking for a reliable service provider for your new Upper East Side home.

So, to get the ball rolling, let me you in the right direction!

For the best internet-cable bundles around the Upper East Side, "connect" with tried-and-tested companies like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!

All you need to do is assess your household's internet usage and entertainment needs and apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle the remaining balance on your account!

It's also best to check with your provider if you need to settle deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront to avoid any "surprises."

Otherwise, expect these charges to reflect on your first bill.

Embracing The Floridian Way: The Importance Of A Florida Driver's License

Need to drive yourself to and from your new Upper East Side home for an errand?

Hold that thought!

You may not have a Florida driver's license yet!

And without one, you're banned from all Florida roads — at least, if you're the one driving!

Not to mention that your Florida driver's license is a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency and the quickest ID to get in Florida, which is ESSENTIAL in getting your relocation sorted!

So, to avoid breaking the law, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents to apply for a Florida driver's license.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Applicants with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction need not take the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving tests.

However, the Vision and Hearing test is still a must!

On the contrary, if you have an existing Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license.

You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

Edu-Essentials: Finding The Best School In The Upper East Side

If you're feeling stressed out with all the errands you need to do for your Upper East Side relocation, take some weight off your back by scrubbing "schools" off the list!

You see, in the Upper East Side, premium education isn't just a luxury but a lifestyle!

In fact, you'll be happy to know that the Upper East Side doesn't just have a collection of schools but also the option for public, private, and charter education from elementary to senior high!

We're talking about educational institutions like Morningside K-8 Academy, Design & Architecture Senior High School, The Cushman School, iTech at Thomas A. Edison Educational Center, and more — arguably some of the best schools in and around the Upper East Side and Miami!

So, for detailed information on the schools in and around the Upper East Side, visit our blog, Schools in the Upper East Side, or visit the Miami-Dade County Public Schools website for all the public schools surrounding your area!

The Power Of Voting: Enriching The Upper East Side Experience

Are you ready to join the 2024 local, state, and national elections as a proud member of the Upper East Side community?

If you're still missing a voter registration, apply to become a registered voter BEFORE or as soon as you move to your new neighborhood!

Otherwise, you can't help shape or enhance the future of the Upper East Side, which can and will cause problems in the long run!

So, if you're a United States citizen over 18 who meets all the requirements to become a registered voter, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

To give you an idea, any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) should suffice.

Turning Trash Into Opportunity: Leading The Upper East Side To Sustainability

Can't get enough of the Upper East Side's natural beauty, spotless streets, well-maintained neighborhood parks, and impeccable cleanliness?

Help your new community preserve its environmental health and reach the highest level of sustainability by observing, following, and keeping to heart Upper East Side's strict guidelines on recycling and waste management, including its solid waste, "bulky" garbage, and recyclables schedules!

It's a small price to pay to maintain the allure of the Upper East Side!

Here are the current solid waste, "bulky" garbage, and recyclables schedules as advised by the City of Miami Solid Waste Department:

  • Garbage & Trash collection (twice a week)
  • Free recycling collection every other week
  • "Bulky" trash collection (once a week)
