A Kickstart To Your Doral Journey: Taking Care Of Your Utilities

Kudos to your decision to move to Doral!

Now that you've found the perfect place to call home, it's time to face the world of ADULTING, starting with setting up your utilities!

To get your Doral abode up and running, log into your existing Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website account and request to transfer your service to the new address — advise FPL of the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and the complete address of your new home, and you're done in minutes!

Meanwhile, if you're coming from a different state or country, submit an online application with your Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the complete service address, and the connection date!

A deposit of $25 (minimum) and initial set-up fees may be charged before service connection, whether you're a new or existing FPL customer.

For natural gas service, check the availability with TECO PeoplesGas and Florida City Gas (FCG)upon confirmation, submit the necessary IDs and connection date through your newly created online account or advise TECO or FCG of the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and the new address for a service transfer request (existing customer).

Charges may include deposit fees based on your home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill and a connection fee.

To cap off your "to-do's," check for water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website!

Once confirmed, create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, or settle any outstanding balance on your account before requesting a service transfer if you're an existing customer.

Connecting To The City's Pulse: Where To Get Your Internet And Cable Services In Doral

Are you ready to "cozy up" your new Doral home?

No, I'm not talking about carpets, plushies, or decor!

To help make your Doral transition the most comfortable way possible, a reliable internet connection and access to your favorite TV show are in order!

To set up your cable and internet at your new address, find awesome deals and bundles from established providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!

Once you've settled on a plan, you can apply at the nearest store or online with your complete address and proper IDs and just wait for the installers to come by your house!

Meanwhile, if you already have an existing account with Comcast or AT&T,  settle your remaining balance, if any, and just request a service transfer to your new home — see how easy that is!

Please note that there may be upfront charges like deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees.

A Loud And Proud Floridian: Getting Your First Official Doral ID

Settling smoothly into your new community?

Why don't you celebrate your 'victory' by making your move more OFFICIAL?

Show the folks back home that you're a loud and proud Floridian by getting a Florida driver's license!

Aside from being a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency, you'll need a Florida driver's license to drive on ALL Florida roads, so if you're not looking for any jail time, it's NON-NEGOTIABLE!

To get your license, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

If you already have a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction, taking the Vision and Hearing test is still a MUST, but you may be allowed to skip the mandatory Drug and Alcohol courses and the Class E Knowledge exam.

Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV to get a new license with your updated address — failure to do so is punishable by law.

And before you skedaddle away, don't forget to get insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency!

Becoming A Soldier Of Nature: The Green Initiatives of Doralzuela

Like any other district across the country, the City of Doral implements a strict set of rules within the community, including solid waste management!

As you may have already known (as a former member of a different community), cleanliness is a significant contributor to everyone's safety, and improperly disposing of your waste will greatly impact where you live — now and in the near future!

So, as a newly inducted member of the Doral community, it's best to start familiarizing yourself with the recycling and waste collection schedules established by the City of Doral - Public Works!

Please note that the Doral community hires private haulers for disposing of solid waste and "bulky" garbage, including recycling services, and service fees may apply.

For more information about schedules and fees, visit the Solid Waste Management.

However, if you'd like to do a self-disposal, find more information about the process here — City of Miami Solid Waste Department website.
