Spend the NEXT chapter of your life surrounded by the swaying trees, whispering waters, and Bohemian-inspired allure of Coconut Grove, a prestigious waterfront village where Old Florida's charm meets an unparalleled, contemporary lifestyle!

Perched along the marvelous length of Biscayne Bay is one of Miami's oldest and greenest quarters, Coconut Grove, an esteemed Village celebrated for its friendly, laid-back environment, Bohemian-inspired beauty, and rich history.

Albeit only minutes from bustling districts like Downtown Miami and Brickell, Coconut Grove brings a unique topical allure to Miami's urban core, boasting the famed tagline, "A Small Town with Big City vibe," alongside lush, leafy landscapes, picturesque Biscayne views, historical landmarks, and a diverse collection of premium real estate.

With all things considered, Coconut Grove has risen to the coveted ranks of Miami's most preferred residential communities, making every local fall in love with its seamless combination of exclusive, luxury city living and small-town appeal!

Are you moving to Coconut Grove soon?

Congratulations on taking the first step toward a comfortable bayfront lifestyle in the city!

Now it's time to ease your way into the community, starting with sorting out the essentials of Coconut Grove living!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Coconut Grove.

    (1)

Building Your Grove "Empire": Setting Up The Foundation Of Your Coconut Grove Home

Can't wait to "grow your roots" inside your Coconut Grove home?

Well, before you do, you'll want to sort out two significant details first!

To set up electricity at your new home, visit the  Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website  and create or log into your existing account to request a new connection or a service transfer.

New account holders need to submit their applications with their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the complete service address, and the connection date, and existing FLP consumers only need to advise FPL of the date of disconnection (old address), the date of re-connection, and the complete address of their Grove home!

New and existing FPL consumers may need to pay a deposit of $25 (minimum) and initial set-up fees before service connection.

For those who prefer a natural gas service, look into providers like  TECO Peoples Gas  and  Florida City Gas (FCG) !

Upon confirmation of service availability, new customers need to submit the necessary IDs and date of connection through their newly created online account, while existing customers need to advise TECO or FCG of the date of disconnection (old address), the date of re-connection, and the new address.

Please expect to be charged deposit fees based on your home's square footage and equal to twice the average monthly bill, alongside a connection fee, before the service starts.

Lastly, check for water and sewer availability on the  Miami-Dade Water & Sewer  website!

Once confirmed, new customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners are also required to settle any outstanding balance before the selected transfer date.

     (2)

The 21st Century Way Of Life: Securing The Best Providers For Your Internet And Cable Services

Homes without high-speed internet and premium cable services are now close to non-existent thanks to the ever-expanding world of Technology, so if you're looking to partake in the 21st-century way of life, finding the best provider for your internet and cable services is a MUST!

Still hunting for a competitive internet/cable bundle?

Look into well-established providers like  Comcast Xfinity , and  AT&T !

Upon selecting your preferred package, you may apply for a new service online or in person at the nearest store, submit the necessary IDs, advise them of your complete address, and the rest is history!

Meanwhile, existing Comcast and AT&T customers can also request a service transfer to the new address, provided they settle any remaining balance on their accounts before transferring!

Please note that deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees may be charged upfront or reflected on the first bill.

     (3)

Becoming An Honorary Floridian: Getting Your First Sunny State ID

While it's always best to ease into a new city one step at a time, one thing you NEED to accomplish before becoming an honorary Floridian is getting your Florida driver's license!

If you're moving to Coconut Grove with an existing Florida driver's license, you'll only need to notify the DMV of your new address to get an updated driver's license.

However, if you're moving from another state, applying for a Florida driver's license is a must within 30 days of establishing residency and a requisite for driving on Florida roads without breaking the law!

Once you're ready with the necessary documents, visit the nearest  Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)  or any local office offering driver's license services.

Applicants with current or previous driver's licenses from another state, country, or jurisdiction may be exempted from the mandatory Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving test, but the Vision and Hearing test is a requisite.

Oh, and don't forget to get insurance to title and register your vehicle(s), too — you'll need to accomplish this within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

For more information on the necessary documents to have on hand, click on the applicable residency status:

    •  U.S Citizen
    • Immigrant
    • Non-Immigrant
    •  Canadian

A Premium Bayfront Education: Exploring The Best Schools Of The Grove

Are you ready to give your children a PREMIER Miami education — by the bayfront?

Yes, folks, you read that right!

Aside from boasting a collection of esteemed public and private schools revered across Miami, Coconut Grove also treats students to gorgeous Biscayne Bay views while they learn — how cool is that?

As for your options, you're looking at schools like Frances S. Tucker Elementary School, St Hugh Catholic School, Mater Grove Academy, Coconut Grove Elementary School, Ransom Everglades School, and more!

Arguably, the cream of the crop of Miami schools, from primary level to senior high!

If you need a full list of schools in and around Coconut Grove, read our blog,  Schools in Coconut Grove , and visit the  Miami-Dade County Public Schools website  to know more!

Meanwhile, you can also find the best daycare for your little one from our blog,   Daycares in Coconut Grove , if you require childcare while you're at work!

Empowering The Future: Embracing The Coconut Grove Lifestyle Through Voting

Are you ready to fully embrace the coveted Coconut Grove lifestyle?

If you are, start by exercising your RIGHT to VOTE to empower not just your community's future but also Miami's and the whole country's!

So, if you're over the age of 18 and are a United States citizen who meets all the requirements, take the first step to have a voice within the Coconut Grove community by submitting your application together with the proper IDs and documents through the   Florida Department of State  or the  Miami-Dade County Elections Department  online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

To supplement your application, you can use your Florida Driver's License, United States passport, or any current and valid identification with a photograph and signature.

Living Green In The Grove: Keeping Coconut Grove's Waste And Recycling Efforts To Heart

Charming, unique, and ever-luxurious, Coconut Grove has earned a top spot on Miami's list of revered neighborhoods for having the "greenest" quarters in all of Miami-Dade County, and as a new member of this prestigious community, it's your duty to take part in the movement to keep Coconut Grove the cleanest and greenest it can be AT ALL TIMES!

To start, familiarize yourself with the  City of Miami Solid Waste Department 's waste collection and recycling management schedules, and keep all the information to heart!

Residential garbage is collected twice a week, the free recycling collection happens every other week, and "bulky" trash collection will be collected once a week.

Please note that anyone with a waste management violation will be charged a $500 fine or arrested, so be wary and always stay informed!
