Hype your pup up for a furrtastic tour of the dog-friendly pockets surrounding Sweetwater, a tiny, spirited corner of West Dade shaped by authenticity and cultural strength.

An assortment of shaded trails, grassy nooks, and outdoor hangouts—these are what await just beyond Sweetwater, a tiny slice home to a vivacious campus life, Latin roots, and neighborhood parks that come together to create a setting that's grounded and vibrant at every turn.

Here, you'll find modest mid-century streets dotted with aging stucco homes, compact apartment buildings, and local shops, with some of West Dade's pet-friendly corridors just minutes away, allowing your four-legged crew easy access to parks and open spaces where they can sniff, explore, and burn off that everlasting energy.

Errands, classes, weekend plans…, and dog-friendly parks?

Oh, boy, have you got options.

Here are the dog-friendly parks near Sweetwater.

1) Trails & Tails Park (Top Pick!)

11645 NW 50th St, Doral, FL 33178

Say hello to Doral's first-ever dog-friendly facility, Tails & Trails Park, Fido's version of "The Best Place On Earth," just 6 minutes from Sweetwater.

Completed in 2012, this eight-acre park offers small and large dog off-leash areas with multiple wash stations, a Memory Lane brick dedication, and dog-friendly water fountains.

For the "hoomans," Trails & Tails Park has a shaded kiddie playground and restrooms for convenience!

Most will agree that Trails & Tails Park is pretty state-of-the-art as dog parks go.

Its small breed section is grassed and has gravel pathways running around the border, and you'll also see a rockery-style garden installation planted with shrubbery and trees. Meanwhile, the large dog run is a vast grass field surrounded by metal railings.

It has gravel islands, boulders, and trees.

Another good thing about Trails & Tails Park is its clean facilities.

The park receives periodical spray treatment to prevent fleas, with spraying done on a rota system where one part of the park may be closed while the other is combined use.

Trails & Tails Park has benches for pet owners, poop bag dispensers, and water fountains.

2) Tamiami Trail Park

A dog-friendly park within Tamiami's North Trail Park, Tamiami Trail is a top recreational spot you can bring Fido around Sweetwater, especially if your pup loves long walks and exploring, since it's only 7 minutes away!

At the park, you can stroll, run, and play with your pup on a leash on its expansive grassy field, and if you need to use them, you'll also find bag dispensers and waste baskets along the way.

Aside from its open space, Tamiami Trail Park also has a playground for the kids, large shade trees, benches, and fences for security.

Don't forget your dog's lead!

Its fenced off-leash dog area has two divisions dedicated to small and large dogs, with water fountains and hoses to use when your pup needs a cooldown or a quick shower.

White Course Park also has a spacious area to stroll after your dog's playtime!

Be sure to bring a water bowl and a leash, as dogs are only allowed without a lead in the off-leash areas.

4) Downtown Doral Park

For playtime with your pup around town, look to Coral Villas Park, a neighborhood hangout for local families that offers an expansive playground and open area for kids, a 13-minute drive from Sweetwater.

The park's playground equipment features Evos for children 5 to 12 years old and Dino Climber for children ages 2-5.

It also has two-bay swings with shade structures and artificial turf surfacing throughout.

The Evos unit is a patented play system that combines climbing cables and suspended play events designed to challenge users physically and mentally as they discover the limits of their creativity.

This free-form equipment encourages school-age children to interact and invent games as they develop strength and balance by mastering the equipment.

Further, Coral Villas Park's new development includes walkways, landscaping, and access control.

The perimeter of the park has been densely planted with Stoppers and Buttonwoods, two hearty native shrubs that require little care and water.

The shrubs provide privacy for the neighbors and food for the birds and butterflies.

There are also Native Tamarind and Oak trees, which enhance the beautiful Oaks already growing on the property and create a shady haven for the neighborhood to enjoy over the years.

Dogs are allowed in this park, leashed.
