Let your pup call the shots as it leads you to tail-wagging strolls and sniff-filled missions around Liberty Square, a redeveloping mixed-use community in the heart of Liberty City.

Start your morning with soul, sunshine, and personality as you embark on a pup-friendly romp along the parks near Liberty Square, the first 753-unit public housing project for African Americans in Miami.

Born out of necessity during segregation, this legacy-rich community is on its way to becoming one of Miami's most ambitious mixed-income housing projects, thanks to the Liberty City Rising movement, which promises to reinvent the Liberty Square we've come to know and love.

And while it isn't lined with pet boutiques or pampered lawns (at least, for now), Liberty Square's location makes up for it with easy access to nearby green spaces where dogs and their humans can stretch their legs and shake off the day.

So, leash up, grab the treats, and give your good boy or girl the park-hopping tour they deserve— they're all just minutes away!

Here are the dog-friendly parks near Liberty Square.

1) Buena Vista Park

5250 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127

Buena Vista Park is a vibrant neighborhood hangout that offers just the perfect amount of open space and activity, just 5 minutes from Liberty Square.

With picnic tables, a playground, a basketball court, and a rec center, it's a solid spot for families, solo visitors, and yes, dog parents, too.

You'll find locals stopping by for a short morning walk or lingering after school programs let out, enjoying the laid-back energy the park naturally brings.

Remember, dogs are welcome here, but only if leashed, so bring yours along with a little extra water and a few cleanup bags.

2) West Buena Vista Mini Park

NW 44TH ST / NW 11TH CT, Miami, FL 33127

If your pup prefers quieter spots to sniff around, head to West Buena Vista Mini Park, just 5 minutes from Liberty Square.

This compact green nook has picnic tables and an outdoor fitness area, with open space for leashed dogs to explore.

It's a lesser-known gem for locals walking their pets, especially in the afternoons when the neighborhood starts to wind down, so you don't have to worry about crowds when you visit.

It's also not far from Upper Buena Vista, which makes this mini park an ideal low-key pit stop after errands or lunch nearby.

3) Pullman Mini Park

24 NW 49 ST, Miami, FL 33127

Tucked into a residential block in Little Haiti, Pullman Mini Park is where neighbors gather and dogs get their wiggles out, just 6 minutes from Liberty Square.

Here, shaded picnic tables, barbecue grills, and a playground make it a family-friendly pitstop, while the soccer goal and open lawn offer a bit of space to stretch your legs.

Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park, and the mature trees provide a nice break from the Miami heat while your Fido explores.

4) Lemon City Park (Top Pick!)

27 NE 58TH ST, Miami, FL 33130

Welcome to Lemon City Park, a solid choice for some exercise/walkathon sessions with your dog under a bit of sunshine, just 6 minutes from Liberty Square.

This neighborhood park has plenty of space to move around—wide-open greens, a basketball court, shaded sitting areas, and a full rec center.

Here, families often gather after school for youth programs or laid-back outdoor time, and the lake view gives it a peaceful, tucked-away feel.

Dogs are welcome on a leash, so bring yours along for a walk, a sniff, or just to soak in the breeze beneath the trees.

5) Moore Park (Top Pick!)

765 NW 36th St, Miami, FL 33127

If you and your furry pal need a change of pace, Moore Park brings the space, the shade, and a whole lot of things to do to the table, just 7 minutes from Liberty Square.

This massive Allapattah park has it all: basketball and tennis courts, football fields, workout zones, a running track, and a community center packed with everything from computer labs to art rooms.

It's also home to a playground and daycare, so expect a mix of families, athletes, and locals stopping by for different activities.

Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park, making Moore Park an easy pick for a long walk with plenty of sights (and smells) along the way.

6) Eaton Park

460 NE 61st St, Miami, FL 33137

Need a quick place to let your dog sniff, stroll, or sit in the shade? Eaton Park gives you the perfect spot sans the exhausting commute, just 7 minutes from Liberty Square.

This compact Upper East Side park includes a basketball court, a multipurpose lawn, picnic tables, and a few shaded corners to catch your breath.

It's a practical stop if you're looking for a clean, leash-friendly space between errands—or just somewhere to get some fresh air with your four-legged sidekick.

7) Juan Pablo Duarte Park (Top Pick!)

1776 NW 28th Street, Miami, FL 33142

Big trees, expansive fields, and a calm atmosphere make Juan Pablo Duarte Park an ideal getaway when your dog needs a walk and you could use a breather, just 8 minutes from Liberty Square.

There's a splash pad for kids, space for pickup baseball games, and plenty of shaded areas where you can take it slow or squeeze in a light workout on the outdoor gym stations.

With a basketball court, soccer field, and BBQ-ready picnic areas, this park pulls double duty as a family gathering spot and casual weekday escape.

Dogs are welcome on a leash, so clip it on and take a lap—you'll both be better for it.

8) Melrose Park

2520 NW 31st Street, Miami, FL 33142

Melrose Park is a paw-approved nature spot with nearly two acres of shaded grass, play areas, and peaceful corners, just 8 minutes from Liberty Square.

It's a favorite among Allapattah locals for casual pickup games, kid-friendly outings, and leashed dog walks along its open layout.

Plus, there's a basketball court, picnic tables, and a playground on-site, making Melrose Park perfect for a solo stroll or bringing the whole crew, including your four-legged one.

9) Legion Park (Top Pick!)

6447 NE 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33138

Set along Biscayne Bay with green spaces to move and a view worth the drive, Legion Park is a pet-friendly park just 9 minutes from Liberty Square.

It features seven acres of open lawn, shaded picnic areas, a boat ramp, outdoor gym equipment, and a waterfront playground for kiddos.

But the real highlight for dog owners is Legion Park's dedicated off-leash dog park, complete with a fenced-in run and a water fountain for furry visitors.

You can also stroll your pup through the rest of the park on a leash and enjoy the bay breeze while they sniff every blade of grass in sight.

10) Morningside Park (Top Pick!)

750 NE 55th Terrace, Miami, FL 33137

The park offers a mix of land and water activities, including basketball and tennis courts, a football field, picnic spots, and boat and kayak rentals for weekend adventurers.

It also hosts seasonal kids' camps and sailing programs, giving this nature destination an active, family-friendly energy.

Dogs are welcome on a leash, so whether you're walking along the water or just lying low in the grass, your furry sidekick is free to tag along.

11) Manatee Bend Park (Top Pick!)

465 NE 77th Street Rd, Miami, FL 33138

Sometimes the best spots aren't the biggest—they're the ones tucked beside a river, shaded by old trees, and far enough from the noise, like Manatee Bend Park, 10 minutes from Liberty Square.

This peaceful 1.2-acre park sits right along the Little River, with a paved trail that loops around the grass and follows the river's edge for a scenic stroll.

You'll find benches scattered throughout, a few picnic tables, and plenty of quiet corners for your pup to explore, on a leash, of course.

And yes, the name is no gimmick—manatees are often spotted right from the shore, making it one of the more unexpectedly charming places to bring your dog.

12) Albert Pallot Park

3808 NE 6th Ave, Miami, FL 33137

A tidy green lawn, a curve of concrete by the bay, and a quiet breeze—that's Albert Pallot Park, 10 minutes from Liberty Square.

Known for its design-forward layout and iconic domino sculpture, this 3-acre waterfront park features a winding path, playground, kayak ramp, and plenty of space to stretch out on the grass.

You'll spot dog walkers, rollerbladers, and families drifting in during the afternoon hours, especially as the breeze picks up off the water.

Leashed dogs are welcome, so bring your pup, cleanup bags, and maybe a snack for the bench view—you'll want to linger a while.

13) Gerry Curtis Park

1901 NW 24th Ave, Miami, FL 33125

An outdoor municipal sports venue outfitted with a football field, a track, racquetball and basketball facilities, Gerry Curtis Park, just 10 minutes from Liberty Square, is built for anyone who needs room to move.

Here, you'll find a baseball diamond, playground, boat ramp, and a community center hosting year-round programs and amenities.

There's also plenty of green space for walking your dog—just keep them leashed while you explore the edges or pause by the shaded picnic tables.

It's not fancy, but it's always busy, and it gets the job done for you and your four-legged sidekick.

14) Henry Reeves Park

528 NW 10th St, Miami, FL 33136

If you're heading toward Overtown and want a laid-back green space with a little bit of everything, Henry Reeves Park is worth the stop, just 10 minutes from Liberty Square.

It has the staples: basketball courts, picnic tables, playgrounds, BBQ pits, and extras like outdoor gym equipment, a covered shelter, and public computer access.

Henry Reeves Park gets plenty of love from locals, especially during the afternoons when the courts fill up and the breeze rolls in.

Dogs are welcome on a leash, so bring your buddy along and let them enjoy the fresh air while you take in the scene.
