Here's a Quick Update on Liberty Square's Brick-by-Brick Transformation—
Where: Liberty Square, NW 12th Avenue & NW 62nd Street
When: Early to mid-2025
Curious about "Pork n' Beans" progress on its new beginnings? We're here to give you a play-by-play on how it's turning out so far!
Early this year, Liberty Square accomplished a milestone with the grand reveal of Serenity at Liberty Square, a sleek 193-unit complex that's part of its nine-phase rebirth.
Inside, you'll find 27 public housing units reserved for "legacy" residents, 50 subsidized voucher units, and the rest at affordable and workforce rates for families earning under 80% of the area median income.
The iconic moment allowed the last 27 families from the original buildings to step into brand-new homes, keeping the long-promised pledge that no one would be left behind.
With Serenity's debut, the project now boasts 793 new units delivered, backed by a whopping $220 million investment.
But Liberty Square isn't slowing down.
Phase Five — the largest yet — is on deck to add 424 more apartments, and a separate 37-unit building dedicated to senior residents.
By the time all nine phases wrap up, Liberty Square will be home to 1,800 public, affordable, workforce, and market-rate homes, alongside parks, retail, a healthcare center, and community spaces.
As Related Urban President Albert Milo puts it, the vision has always been to "rebuild a community, not just housing," ensuring that green spaces and gathering spots rise beside the walls and roofs.

Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, Back in Business Where It Started!
Where: NW 15th Avenue (inside Liberty Square)
When: 2025
Fifty years after its founding, the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce has come home — and not just for a visit.
In 2025, the Chamber planted its first-ever permanent headquarters inside Liberty Square, along NW 15th Avenue, the same corridor that once thrummed as a hub for Black-owned businesses.
Alongside its offices, the Chamber has launched an on-site business incubator tailored for Liberty Square residents ready to turn side hustles into storefronts.
That means free access to office space, notary services, a professional business address, and one-on-one guidance for everything from licensing to business planning.
Partnerships with FIU's Small Business Development Center, Lendistry, and the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust are already lining up funding workshops and grant opportunities, giving local entrepreneurs the tools and capital to grow right where they live.
Judging by the early buzz, Liberty Square's next chapter may be written in those storefront windows and buzzing cash registers, and we're pretty sure this community has nowhere to go but UP!

Healthcare Steps from Home? Liberty Square Has You Covered!
Where: Jessie Trice Community Health System Clinic
When: 2025
For the first time in Liberty Square's history, quality medical care is just a stroll away, thanks to Jessie Trice Community Health System (JTCHS), Florida's first federally qualified health center, which opened an on-site clinic in the heart of the community.
The goal? To make healthcare as accessible as the corner store.
Residents now have affordable primary care within the neighborhood, including referrals to specialists in dental, nutrition, and other wellness services.
Local leaders are calling it a "game changer," and for good reason.
In a community where transportation can be a hurdle, having medical providers within walking distance means fewer missed appointments and faster treatment.
JTCHS is positioning the clinic as a health hub, offering preventative screenings, chronic disease management, and educational programs to close long-standing care gaps.
Let's give this new addition a round of applause!

Pavement Facelifts, Anyone?
Where: NW 12th Avenue & NW 62nd Street
When: 2025
New apartments aren't the only thing getting a glow-up!
Liberty Square's streets are also getting enhancements left to right, as Miami-Dade County has invested over $2 million into the community's roadway and drainage upgrades, making the sidewalks smoother, the crossings safer, and the stormwater systems more resilient during heavy rains.
Along with this, a planned Tri-Rail infill station near NE 79th Street in Little Haiti will also put rail access just minutes from Liberty Square, giving residents a new way to get around without braving gridlock, finally stitching Liberty City more tightly into Miami's transit network.
