What's new in Richmond Heights?

I've all the juicy "deets" for anyone who wants to know!

With its deep roots, mango-lined streets, solid mid-century homes, and rich community pride, Richmond Heights has always been one of South Dade's best-kept secrets.

But let's clear one thing up — this neighborhood is anything but stuck in the past.

In the past few months, Richmond Heights has seen new housing developments break ground, new transit options served, and local landmarks receive the recognition they've long deserved.

From game-changing construction to history-making street signs, the Heights is buzzing with new energy — and not once has it forgotten its soul.

So if you thought you knew Richmond Heights, think again.

The next chapter is already written — and it looks bright as ever.

Here are 3 things new to watch for in Richmond Heights.

125 New Homes Are Coming to Richmond Heights

Where: Louis St, Richmond Heights, FL 33176

When: Broke ground September 2025

There are huge changes on the way — and they're bringing blueprints.

Developer J.L. Brown just broke ground on the Villages of Richmond Heights, a 125-home project promising townhomes, condos, and single-family units woven right into the heart of Richmond Heights.

It's the most iconic (and massive) neighborhood housing push in decades, with Miami-Dade County fully behind it.

The goal? Give more families a shot at homeownership without leaving the community they love.

If you've noticed more survey flags and construction fencing around Louis Street, now you know.

With modern builds, walkable design, and a first-time buyer price point, this could be Richmond Heights' real estate glow-up moment!

Hear, Ye! Hear, Ye! A Metro Express Just Rolled Out Near Richmond Heights

Where: Coral Reef Dr & US-1

When: October 27, 2025

Your favorite public transportation just received a vital upgrade — and no, this isn't your average Metrobus.

We're talking about Miami-Dade's new Metro Express rapid transit line, which officially launched in late October, complete with a brand-new stop just west of Richmond Heights at Coral Reef Drive and US-1.

It runs from Florida City to Dadeland with dedicated lanes, modern shelters, and rail-style speeds (minus the rail construction headache).

While day-one riders saw a few hiccups — shoutout to the signal timing chaos — the commute boost is still as real as ever!

If you're selling, this kind of connectivity is gold.

If you're commuting... well, enjoy sitting a little less.

New Street Name Honors Richmond Heights Trailblazer

Where: SW 146th Terrace, Ferguson Park

When: September 2025

Ferguson Park just made space for some well-deserved recognition.

As of September 2025, part of SW 146th Terrace now bears a new name: Judge Melvia B. Green Terrace, to honor the first Black female circuit judge from Richmond Heights.

Born and raised in this very neighborhood, Judge Green made history in Miami-Dade's court system — and now her legacy is quite literally on the map.

It's a tiny stretch of road with a big story behind it, proving that Richmond Heights doesn't forget where it came from.
