What's new in Pinewood?

I've all the juicy "deets" for anyone who wants to know!

Seemingly non-existent in Miami's vast landscape, Pinewood proves that progress doesn't have to shout to be heard.

From fresh community gardens and ambitious corridor upgrades to new housing on the horizon, this pocket of urban-suburban Magic City is getting its fair share of well-earned attention.

And the best part is that this growth puts better food, cleaner streets, and more homes within reach for the people who call Pinewood home.

So, ready to see what's taking root (pun intended) just minutes from downtown?

Here are 3 things new to watch for in Pinewood.

(1)

Pinewood Garden Grows Into a Local Lifeline

Where: 1201 NW 112th Street, Pinewood

When: Opened mid-2025, with biweekly "Harvest Day" events every 2nd and 4th Thursday

What started as a small green plot has blossomed into one of Pinewood's most inspiring community projects.

The Pinewood Garden, operated by nonprofit Health in the Hood, provides free, freshly harvested produce to local families and volunteers every month.

Founded by Asha Walker, Health in the Hood has transformed this once-empty space into a thriving hub of wellness and connection, where residents can join the "Harvest Day" gatherings to pick vegetables, lend a hand, or simply enjoy a bit of green in the heart of the city.

Beyond food distribution, the group offers gardening and cooking classes that promote healthy living throughout Miami-Dade.

With consistent volunteer turnout and plans to expand to other underserved neighborhoods, the Pinewood Garden has become more than a food source — it's a symbol of growth rooted in community.

NW 7th Avenue Revamp Brings New Energy to Pinewood

Where: NW 7th Avenue Corridor, Pinewood (within the NW 7th Avenue CRA Zone)

When: Five-Year Action Plan, approved July 2025

Change is coming to one of Pinewood's busiest arteries, as the Miami-Dade NW 7th Avenue Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) approves a five-year action plan aimed at revitalizing the corridor that runs through Pinewood.

We're talking streetscape improvements, infrastructure upgrades, updated zoning, and initiatives designed to attract new businesses and community partnerships.

For Pinewood residents, this could mean cleaner sidewalks, better lighting, and a more inviting main strip for shops, restaurants, and mixed-use spaces.

And while the transformation will take time, the CRA's push signals a long-term investment in Pinewood's growth, allowing a clear shift toward a more connected, modern, and livable urban-suburban slice.

Residences at Palm Court Brings 316 New Homes Near Pinewood

Where: 950 NW 95th Street

When: Financing approved May 2025; construction to follow

A major housing project adjacent to Pinewood will change the landscape of the area, a.k.a. The Residences at Palm Court, a 316-unit mixed-income development, received approval for up to $76 million in county financing this year.

Located on NW 95th Street, in unincorporated West Little River, The Residences at Palm Court will feature modern apartments, creating affordable yet high-quality housing close to Miami's core, alongside a boost in nearby retail, small businesses, and local amenities — benefits that Pinewood residents will likely feel first.

With demand for attainable housing rising countywide, this development marks a key step in reshaping northwest Miami-Dade's residential scene.
