So, buckle up as Miami-Dade's most architecturally whimsical community rolls out affordable housing booms, billion-dollar business moves, shiny new sidewalks, and even private jet playgrounds, rapidly transforming from the inside out!

Blueprints, Bricks & a Bold Comeback
Where: across Opa-Locka
When: April 2025 to TBA
Downtown Opa-Locka promised us an upgrade, and it's finally here!
But this time, the cranes are the stars of the skyline.
Exhibit 1 — City Terrace (777 Opa-Locka Blvd), a rising development that will bring nearly 2,000 apartments, almost half reserved as affordable housing, plus 27,000 square feet of commercial space.
Led by Ten North Group, the project will create 900 jobs, with Phase I already underway to deliver 444 units by 2027.
And don't worry; the buildings will carry the Opa-Locka's Moorish Revival touches to keep the fairytale look intact.
Meanwhile, Mosaic Apartments (13145 NW 27th Ave) opened its doors with 98 workforce housing units early this year, allowing families much-needed space to stretch.
And for our older residents, the Wellspring Apartments (14701 NW 27th Ave), which debuted with 99 senior-friendly homes, complete with a wellness center and a 44,000 square-foot medical office.
Together, these projects are proof of Opa-Locka's revival, a unique city that is undoubtedly move-in ready!

Opa-Locka Grows From Flea Markets to Fortune 500s!
Where: across Opa-Locka
When: July 2025 to June 2026
If you thought Opa-Locka was just onion domes and Arabian Nights events, this ongoing business boom will make you think twice.
Amazon (NW 37th Ave, near Opa-Locka Executive Airport) expanded its Opa-Locka empire with another 235,850 square feet warehouse lease, the largest industrial deal in Miami-Dade this quarter, turning the city into a hub for oversized deliveries.
Meanwhile, the old flea market site (NW 37th Ave & 135th St) has officially swapped bargain booths for blueprints after a $106 million sale.
What's joining the Opa-Locka community in that exact spot? It's Ironwood Commerce Center Phase II, with 742,000 square feet of industrial space and a 74,000 square-foot office!
For residents who often lack closet space, CubeSmart Self-Storage (14301 NW 27th Ave) is now under construction, with plans to offer 1,100 climate-controlled units in June 2026.
Last on the list is Jet Aviation (Opa-Locka Executive Airport), which is building a 27-acre FBO (Fixed-Base Operator) complex with a private terminal, hangars, on-site Customs, and a 540,000-square-foot ramp, slated for late 2025.
Well, will you look at that? Opa-Locka is stacking square footage like it's going out of style!

Pretty Sidewalks and Safer Streets? Opa-Locka Has That Slam Dunked!
Where: across Opa-Locka
When: 2025
Sometimes, tiny upgrades, though rarely noticed, are the ones that make life better.
Let's shine a spotlight on these unsung mini-projects, shall we?
In 2025, Opa-Locka resurfaced more than 4.5 miles of local roads and added 2.7 miles of sidewalks to make everything smooth and walkable.
Flood-mitigation projects were also rolled out across neighborhoods, making rainy days less of a gamble in Opa-Locka.
As for our treasured community parks, safe to say, they got their groove back, as Sherbondy Park (380 Bahman Ave), Segal Park (2331 NW 143rd St), and Ingram Park (2101 Ali Baba Ave) now feature new playgrounds, upgraded basketball courts, and shaded pavilion covers perfect for cooling off.
These improvements make Opa-Locka a little safer, a little friendlier, and a lot more livable, and it's high time we give credit where it's due!
