2 Things New in Horse Country!
What's new in Horse Country?
I've all the juicy "deets" for anyone who wants to know!
This once-quiet pocket of Miami, better known for barns and nurseries, is stepping into a spotlight of its own!
Heads up: it's anything but ordinary, so expect surprises at every turn!
Horse Country and its neighbors are making waves with smoother commutes on Bird Road, big plans to reimagine Tropical Park's equestrian grounds, and a lineup of fresh cafés, ice cream shops, barbecue joints, and new retail headed its way.
Consider this proof that this semi-rural enclave is gearing up to impress, letting everyone know that there's more than horses and farmland behind and beyond those white fences!
Here are 2 things new to watch for in Horse Country.

Paving and Stabling Around Horse Country
Where: Bird Road, Tropical Park
When: 2025
Driving east from Horse Country just got a tad smoother as FDOT finished a $7.9 million upgrade of Bird Road (SW 87th Ave to SW 58th Ave) on August 7, 2025, trimming bumps and easing flow for anyone commuting into the city or just making a Publix run.
Meanwhile, just up the road, Tropical Park (7900 SW 40th St) is on deck for a major equestrian glow-up, thanks to Miami-Dade's issued 2025 design-build request to overhaul the park's equestrian complex with a new clubhouse, visitor center, indoor arena, plazas, stables, and parking upgrades.
It's still in the procurement phase, but once crews break ground, this project could redefine one of the county's busiest parks — and put Horse Country's equestrian lifestyle on an even bigger stage!

New Shops, Sips, and Scoops Brewing Near Horse Country
Where: Horse Country, Kendall, Town & Country
When: 2025 and beyond
Would you believe us when we say you'll never run out of snacks ever again?
Okay, that might sound like an exaggeration, but with the new shops joining the horizon, Horse Country peeps will be spoilt for choice!
First up, tucked right on Horse Country's edge, No Limits Coffee Shop (SW 47th St & 117th Ave) opened on August 9, 2025, its lattes and pastries served with purpose by adults with special needs who've turned the café into a neighborhood must-stop.
At Kendall Place (10755 SW 88th St), Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream opened its doors on July 5, 2025, dazzling kids (and those young-at-heart) with smoky, flash-frozen scoops, followed by the indoor expansion of Apocalypse BBQ (12461 SW 88th St), as it opened its brick and mortar on August 7, 2025, just a few weeks later!
Think that's all? Well, The Palms at Town & Country begs to differ as it welcomed new tenants La Cañita (8405 Mills Dr.) and La Boulangerie Boul'Mich (8405 Mills Dr.) in February.
And if that wasn't enough, Barnes & Noble is staging a comeback with a 20,000-square-foot bookstore slated for late 2025, including a few "Coming Soon" neighbors, Miniso, City Cigar Lounge, and Starbucks.
Whether it's Cuban bites, smoky ribs, nitrogen ice cream, or your next latte, Horse Country's circle of eats and treats is widening fast — and all of it's close enough to dodge Miami's worst traffic.
