While admittedly 'lacking' in the signature Florida "glitz and glam" department, no one can deny that this  "All-America City" is still worth your while, especially for its top-tier location and abundance of recreational activities.

The community is a cultural hub in north-central Broward, straddling the Florida Turnpike to the northwest of Fort Lauderdale and carving a diagonal path across the metropolitan region

Lauderhill boasts proximity to Tamarac on its north, Lauderdale Lakes to its northeast, Plantation to its south, and Sunrise to its southwest and west

It has a total area of 8.6 square miles, of which 8.5 square miles is land and 0.04 square miles is water

The mid-sized community is among the principal cities of the Miami metropolitan area.

Aside from its noteworthy attractions, mostly parks, tennis courts, ball fields, and swimming pools, Lauderhill is a short drive away from the best of South Florida

So, whatever you don't see in its perimeter, you can travel to in an hour or two--hassle-free!

Too convenient, if I do say so myself!

Are you ready to plan your Lauderhill itinerary?

Here are the top five things you can do while you're here:

(1)

While Lauderhill isn't as 'jampacked' with restaurants and food spots as the next city, the options it does have gives you a mini-melting pot of cultures, much like its population-- ethnically diverse and as unique as can be.

Here, you can choose from a round-up of Caribbean, Asian, Latin American, and Classic American eats, with a few spots for Mediterranean and Italian here and there.

Craving Korean and Jamaican food?

Lauderhill is your JAM!

There are so many spots for Korean and Jamaican cuisines around here that you won't be able to eat them all in one go!

Another great thing about the neighborhood's culinary scene is most restaurants are locally-owned, so whenever you dine in, it's like showing your support to small businesses and hole-in-the-wall eats!

And if that isn't a heartwarming thought, I don't know what is!

Eating good and helping out at the same time?

Not too bad, not too bad!

(2)

Shopping isn't Lauderhill's strong suit, despite having the southeastern United States' first enclosed air-conditioned mall within its midst, the Lauderhill Mall

Nevertheless, the old-school, spacious shopping enclave still has a bit of fire left, boasting a range of retail shops and casual fares to go to, where you can do your errands and a little side-shopping while in Lauderhill.

The city also offers a few independent stores, small plazas, thrift shops, and bargain spots around the area, so you won't completely miss buying yourself a few memorabilia from Lauderhill if you're into that kind of thing.

The good news is that Lauderhill is so close to Fort Lauderdale, so all the shopping options within the neighborhood are yours to conquer, too, in case you feel like spending some more!

So, really, you don't feel the difference AT ALL!

(3)

Despite being in an urban area, Lauderhill is covered with parks and gardens, breathing in a little freshness to the community, and we're all for it!

An example is Ilene Lieberman Botanical Gardens, a lush, two-acre park with a nature trail, public art, a botanical garden, and plenty of places to sit and play!

Aside from its cultivated gardens and paved paths that wind their way through the grounds and often feature art created by local artists, the facility also boasts an amphitheater where the city's Jammin' in the Park and Art Fest usually happens.

Meanwhile, for people looking to enjoy a day at the park while getting a workout in or taking a splash in the pool, Veterans Park is the place for you.

On top of picnic areas with grills and playgrounds, the park has a few other amenities that other Lauderhill parks do not, like a swimming pool, soccer field, volleyball court, and a gym!

(4)

Some say a "stop-over" city; I say a gateway to South Florida's best attractions!

Yes, folks. Like Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill also boasts the perfect location for the ultimate road trip!

Imagine enjoying a short travel time to Fort Lauderdale, Miami, the Florida beaches, and more!

For peeps traveling without kids, Miami's around-the-clock nightlife is a no-brainer, and if art, culture, and natural attractions are more your cup of tea, you'll find plenty of those too.

On the other hand, for those who've come to lounge on the beach and soak up the famous Florida sun, there are few better places to do it than the southern coast, just an hour or two drive from Lauderhill!

I'll say it-- running out of things to do around the city is close to nonexistent!

(5)

America's entertainment industry is (arguably) one of the best in the world, and if your idea of a good time is watching a live performance, a concert, or a show, Lauderhill's arts, and culture do a great job of making America proud.

Say hello to the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center, a newly constructed, state-of-the-art, 1143-seat theatre that offers something for everyone.

Located on NW 11th Place in town, Lauderhill Performing Arts Center is a famous community resource that provides guests with various entertainment options – from dramatic productions to live music and comedy shows.

It's not a surprise that tickets for many popular shows sell out quickly, as this hangout spot has already gained quite a following, despite being around for only a few years.

Another spot to visit for city-wide events and celebrations, or just to hang out with family and friends is the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, a 110-acre multipurpose facility that serves as a vibrant county park.

It is known for its cultural carnivals, music festivals, and state-of-the-art athletic facilities, including four soccer & football fields, two cricket fields, netball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, and water playgrounds.
