All Systems Go! Your Richmond Heights Essentials, Activated

Moving into your new Richmond Heights home without electricity or running water? Let's not make that mistake twice.

In this suburb, getting your utilities up and running won't even take a few minutes — once you know where to start.

For electricity, you can contact Florida Power & Light Company (FPL).

Existing customers can log in to their FPL account and request a service transfer by providing the disconnection date, reconnection date, and their new address.

If you're new to Florida, apply online using your Social Security, driver's license, or Tax ID number, your complete service address, and your connection date.

FPL typically charges a $25 deposit minimum and a tiny setup fee before activating service.

For natural gas, check if Florida City Gas (FCG) covers your home.

Once confirmed, you can create an account online, provide identification, and set your preferred connection date—the deposits and connection fees vary depending on your home size or projected monthly usage.

Lastly, seek Miami-Dade Water & Sewer for water and sewer services.

Confirm service availability, open an online account, and expect a $50 deposit for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee.

If you're transferring service, pay any outstanding balance before setting up your new start date.

Not the most glamorous step of moving day, but once your utilities are connected, you'll know your new Richmond Heights home is officially good to go.

For new customers, check the latest promotions online or visit a nearby Xfinity or AT&T store to compare plans, submit your ID, and schedule installation.

Richmond Heights falls within strong service zones, so expect quick turnaround times once they process your paperwork and payment.

The activation, installation, and equipment rental fees may apply, along with any refundable deposits for new accounts.

Keys, Cars, and Sunshine — Your License to Drive in Richmond Heights

Ready to trade public transit for palm-lined roads? It's time to make it official with a Florida driver's license — your golden ticket to cruising through Richmond Heights and beyond.

Florida law requires all new residents to obtain a state-issued driver's license within 30 days of establishing residency, so you don't risk fines faster than you can say "Sunset Drive traffic."

Start by visiting your nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any authorized licensing office in Miami-Dade with your required documents based on your status:

•    U.S Citizen
•
Immigrant
•
Non-Immigrant
•
Canadian

The initial Florida Class E license is $48.00, including a learner's permit; the commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and the ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

If you're transferring a current license from another U.S. state or country, you must still take the vision and hearing test, but you can usually skip the written and drug-and-alcohol courses.

Already licensed in Florida? Don't forget to update your address after your move — it's a requirement.

Finally, title and register your vehicle within 10 days of establishing residency, and secure valid insurance to stay fully compliant.

And voilà, you're free to hit the road with your windows down, playlist on, and Richmond Heights in your rearview mirror as you explore every sunlit stretch of Miami-Dade.
