Your home essentials, electricity, natural gas, and water! 

Here, electricity is provided by Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), and you can activate service by creating or logging into your account on FPL's website and scheduling your start date. 

New customers must provide identifying information along with the complete service address and connection date. 

If you're transferring from another Florida address, schedule the stop date for your previous home and coordinate the activation for your Biscayne Point property.

A deposit may be required depending on credit history, along with standard setup or transfer fees.

If your home uses natural gas — common for cooking, tankless water heaters, generators, or pool heating — let TECO Peoples Gas handle it. 

Applications can be submitted online, and existing customers may arrange a seamless transfer between addresses. 

Deposit requirements and connection fees vary according to property usage history.

Lastly, water and sewer are managed by the  City of Miami Beach Customer Service.

While service is typically continuous between homeowners, billing must be placed under your name.
For activation, account changes, or service concerns, the City's Customer Service portal provides the necessary forms and contact information.

Additional tip: Since Biscayne Point consists almost entirely of single-family waterfront homes, it's wise to confirm that exterior lighting, dock connections, irrigation systems, and pool equipment are all properly accounted for under your utility setup.

Proof of Paradise: Finalizing Your Florida Driver's License

Now that Biscayne Point is your home, you'll want to get that Florida driver's license sorted — and not just because it'll look cool to see your new address on your official Biscayne Point ID (it does, doesn't it?).

Florida law requires new residents to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of establishing residency!

To apply, visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) website to schedule an appointment at your nearest service center.

The cost is $48 for a standard Class E license, $75 for a commercial Class A, and $25 for a Florida ID card.

If you're already a Florida license holder and simply relocating from another area, you must update your address with the FLHSMV to remain compliant. 

This can often be done online, depending on eligibility.

Please note that most out-of-state license holders are not required to retake the written or road test, though vision and hearing screenings remain standard parts of the process.
